The agricultural lands of 370,446 ha, which constitute 37% of the province's surface area, have three different climate structures and their heights vary between 150 meters and 2200 meters. Irrigated agricultural areas constitute 30% of the agricultural areas. Kazova, Turhal, Erbaa, Niksar, Artova and Zile plains, which have five different agro-ecological features, can be irrigated to a large extent. Except for citrus fruits, all kinds of vegetables and fruits grown in Turkey can be grown on agricultural lands. There are 67,398 agricultural enterprises in the province. Almost all of the enterprises are in the form of small family businesses, and plant production is at the forefront in 44% and animal production in 56%.

The ecological conditions of the province allow product diversity, second product production and winter vegetable cultivation. In 2020; 2 million 789 thousand tons of plant production was realized with a total of 76 product types, 39 of which have significant shares in the country. The production of 456,481 tons of sugar beet, 499,892 tons of tomatoes and 331,092 tons of wheat in 2020 constitutes 52% of the total plant production.

AMONG THE REGIONS THAT WILL BE LAST AFFECTED BY GLOBAL WARMING
In the Yeşilırmak Basin Regional Development Master Plan, it has been foreseen that in 2023, the agricultural production in the central district and the surrounding districts in the province of Tokat, which are integrated due to network relations, will diversify due to the fact that the agricultural lands are very valuable and irrigation projects.
GREEN HOUSE CULTIVATION
Greenhouse cultivation practices, which provide significant added value to plant production in the province, are becoming widespread. In 2020, 128,326 tons of greenhouse vegetables and fruits were grown on 926 decares of land in Tokat Merkez, Erbaa, Niksar, Turhal, Pazar and Zile districts. Vegetables produced by greenhouse cultivation can be counted as tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, cucumber, eggplant, green beans, onions, parsley, cress, arugula and dill.

ORGANIC FARMING
Within the scope of organic farming practices, 33 kinds of products can be grown. The number of producers, which was 141 in 2012, reached 568 farmers in 2016; 19,540 tons of product was obtained in 3896 ha area. Pear, quince, walnut, apple, hazelnut, cherry, pomegranate, grape, cherry, plum, medlar, cranberry, rosehip, barley, wheat, vetch, poppy, chickpea, clover, garlic, onion, tomato, zucchini, beans, Cucumber, beet, parsley, meadow, mallow, corn, cowpea and soybean are organic agricultural products grown.

Clove, gladiolus (gladiol), gerbera, gypsohilla, chrysanthemum, lily (lily), rose (cut), lisianthus, solidago (goldenhead) ornamental plants are grown in Tokat. 2.4 million ornamental plants were grown in 2020.

LIVESTOCK FARMING
Süt besiciliği ile elde edilen sütün ülke içindeki payı %1,5’dur. Arıcılık Faaliyetleri ile Yıllık 4.8 milyon Ton bal Üretilmektedir. 4 important animal products are obtained with dairy cattle breeding, beef cattle breeding, beekeeping and trout breeding activities carried out in its rich flora. With the sheep and goat farming and cattle breeding and poultry activities in the province, 128,326 tons of milk and 2.6 million eggs were produced in 2020.
